Seagirt Council Meeting 6 May 2008

 

Present: Eideard, Jacques, Allan, Ysanne, Anastasia, Reann, Gawain, Lenora, Anna-Jane, Sarah, Morgaine, Myng, Elina, Seth, Inga, Sirtas, Paul, James

 

Meeting Called to Order by Seneschal

 

Seneschal:

-         Elina (Robin Lam) steps down as Seneschal (President). Eideard (Edd Macdonald) steps up. 1st Council as new Seneschal

-         Contact list for Officers and deputies. To include how long have been in office

-         Looking for a ‘Gate Deputy’. Duties include taking charge of organizing Gate and training new people to stand Gate Duty

-         Traditions are not written down – would like to create a History of Seagirt and its traditions. James working on Seagirt Wiki. Can Google Antir-Wiki and look for Seagirt page.

 

Coronet:

-         Made money. Net profit of $146.64

-         Final gate total was 266 people including 5 babies (SCA’ers in training)

-         Cheques to be written

-         Travel issues due to Ferry/Accident in Sooke delayed people arriving

-         Site emergencies – No water for several hours, Port-a-john services required early

-         Nothing else to Report

 

Exchequer:

-         Monthly report

-         Note to create policy for NSF checks at next Financial meeting

-         Away for next Council meeting will advance check for Hall rental to HL Anastasia

-         Signing authority has to be changed. Have to have 2 members on the bank account who are members of the credit union.

-         Seneschal must be a signing Authority. Change to be made at Seagirt Financial meeting

 

Master of Blades:

-         Coronet Tourney – Poor showing from Seagirt as it looked like tourney was not happening

-         Restructuring fencing group – details to follow

 

Chronicler:

-         Need Standby for June Council meeting. Her Excellency Elina Volunteered

-         Looking for New Webmaster. Contact Gawain and James if interested

-         Received emails about additions/corrections to Seagirt Webpage.

 

Herald:

-         Heraldry happened at Coronet.

-         Wonderful display from HL Anastasia during baronial court

-         Contact Information changing

 

Arts and Sciences:

-         Good Showing

-         Looking to start some activities

-         NTR

 

Castellan:

-         3 demos requested. Parkland School, Prospect Lake (June 23rd), and Gifted Children’s Association (31st May).

-         Looking for Demo Organizer for the Gifted Children’s Association Demo.

-         Stepping up as Deputy Assistant Chatelaine for Principality

 

Dance:

-         Happening every Tuesday 7 – 9 except first Tues of each month. No profit made this month

-         Made profit of $20 for April

-         NTR

 

Baron/Baroness:

-         Insula Magna event – Seagirt Well represented

-         Award (Beacon of Insula Magna) given to Elizabeth Chatfield

-         Coronet – Their Highnesses/Excellencies proposed/highly encouraged Seagirt to host next April Coronet

-         Talked about entering Victoria Day Parade for next Year.

-         Proposal to enter Buccaneer Days, Oak bay tea party parades. Jacques to investigate

-         Wish to start a monthly tourney (this month May Long weekend) with social afterwards. Details to be posted

-         Propose winner of tourney be posted on Seagirt website

-         Sealion warpoints – Arts points: Carved Welsh Love Spoon or Best Use/Representation of Leeks in a dish, Science points: Siege Engines/weapons, Rapier points: Street brawls. Suggesting a capture/rescue the baroness event

-         Proposed date change for Yule to Dec 6th vice Dec 13th. Date Changed to 6 Dec

-         Award Recommendations. Let Baron/Baroness know. Look at webpage to see who as what.

 

Master of Stables:

-         Coronet. During Evening Torch lite Tourney several problems/concerns arose including: No Armor Inspections, No armor, inebriated fighters. Report to be sent to Principality Marshall.

-         All other Tourneys went well – no other incidents

-         Issues arose with ‘Spear the beer’ event at Coronet. Report to be sent to Principality Marshall

 

Old Business: None

 

New Business:

-         Proposal for large Ren Faire/June Faire by Morgaine. In early stages of work

-         People wanting to Autocrat – SYG (Sergeants, Yeoman’s, Gallants) – Ysanne

o       SST (Seagirt Summer Tourney) – Allan Robbins

o       Yule – Looking For Applicants. Names to be submitted by next council meeting.
